We are the enthusiastic team of the ColDynaMo project which is funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.
Multiferroics and magnetoelectric systems are novel materials in solid state science with direct application in the high-tech industry. At the Institute of Physics in Zagreb, we are uniquely positioned to research this broad and exciting class of materials. The synergy of this project with the new possibilities within KaCIF and CALT will result in new fundamental understanding about magnetoelectric coupling ruling a selection of exotic new multiferroics. We also provide a platform for doctoral and postdoc students joining us in research to develop their careers.
Specifically, we focus on three groups of multiferroic materials: frustrated incommensurate antiferromagnets, multi-domain magnets with electric polarization as well as chemically-controlled hexaferrites. The aim is to systematically describe their collective excitations in the spin and charge sector using dc, ac magnetic susceptibility and susceptibility anistotropy with the option of applied electric field and pressure as well as specific heat, magnetotransport, and dielectric spectroscopy in magnetic field.
